P.G. Volunteer Fire Dept. Inc.
Serving the Pleasant Gardens community of Marion N.C. located on Highway 70 West. The P.G. Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. is an all-volunteer fire department that serves a community of approximately 4800 covering about 55 square miles. We have 29 members on the 2006/2007 roster. Our primary service area is rural. Our department responds to approximately 250 calls a year with the majority of calls involving structural fires, motor vehicle accidents, first responder and mutual aid to surrounding departments.

Our department maintains a written automatic mutual aid agreement with three adjoining fire departments for structural fires and a countywide mutual aid agreement with all eleven county departments. We also provide service to the North Carolina and United States Forest Services with equipment and manpower.

The P.G. Volunteer Fire Department is currently the only rural fire department in McDowell County that has a Class 5 insurance rating.
